Police are appealing for information following this collision.
The incident occurred around 11.55am on Friday, 8 July when a silver Toyota Corolla and a Volvo flat-bed lorry were in collision on the eastbound carriageway of the A629, between Kildwick and Steeton.
A third vehicle, a red Audi S3, was believed to have been travelling in convoy with the Toyota prior to the collision
The Toyota driver, a 19-year-old man from Burnley, was airlifted to hospital
with life-threatening injuries and remains in a critical condition today.
Two men aged 18 and 19 who were travelling in the Audi were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
They were later released on bail and enquiries are continuing.
Sergeant Adrian Newman, of the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team, said:
"We would like anyone who saw any of the vehicles prior to the incident, or who may have witnessed the collision itself to come forward."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team West via 101, quoting log 624 of 8 July.
