At the meeting of the council’s regulatory and appeals committee, members were also updated on plans for a Silsden bypass.

Planning officer John Eyles said what was planned was not a “mini-motorway”, but instead a series of linked roads offering an alternative route. Developers building in the north of Silsden would be expected to contribute.

An almost direct line from the previous gateway ( photo ) across the first field, into the second, just below Haw farm, then leads into the path that exits at the corner where Swartha Lane joins Hawber Lane. see photo.

Two things I get from this.
1) More jam tomorrow.
2) Any new road that is built for Silsden will be a Second rate access road into the new houses, junctions will be at best poor, or even dangerous.

And at the other end of the road.
LAND AT BELTON ROAD, SILSDEN
" Meeting of Regulatory and Appeals Committee, Thursday, 7th April, 2016 10.00 am (Item 105.)
An agreement that land to the south of this application site, within the current ownership of the applicants, shall be reserved for the future provision of a road to facilitate a highway route leading from the north of Silsden Town Center to Keighley Road at a point at the south of the town center", the route between Hawber lane and the Belton road site is rumored to pass through or near Brunthwaite ( please don't shoot the messenger ).

Lets guess that there are another 900 of the planned 1,200 houses(in the current 2013-30 planning period) and the developers contribute £845 per property(as with the amount going to a footbridge from Riverside site). Thats just over three quarters of a million for 900 homes but the estimate for a bypass is £20m. You wont even get "connecting roads" for £750k.
Lets face it we will have gridlock for evermore!!
