According to an item sent to me from Silsden news, Bradford council are saying roads in Silsden will be closed from 11am until 3pm. Does anyone actually have the official info. 4 hours does seem rather restrictive for what would appear to be a 5 minute race through Silsden

No negative comments please, I will, not be watching to race, I simply want information. As I need to be somwhere else.

The race convoy will move across the district in a mobile road closure “bubble” utilising a Police Outrider Escort.

Unlike the Tour de France where the entire route was closed to all traffic, the Tour de Yorkshire cyclists are escorted by the Police in a rolling road closure, where Police motorcycles ride ahead of the group and direct traffic to stop to allow the cyclists to pass. This means that the vast majority of the route is only closed for a matter of minutes while the cyclists pass by.

The Outriders may close roads for up to 20 to 30 minutes at a time as the race progresses through the district, this is dependent on the speed of the race.

Your patience and cooperation during these periods is appreciated. Once the race has passed normal traffic conditions will resume.

In certain locations, both along the race route and off it, longer closure periods are required in order to ensure both competitor and public safety.

These locations will be signposted in advance at the relevant locations and will also be listed below:

Skipton Road, Silsden

Closed at the junction of Woodside Road

11am to 3pm

Holden Lane/Silsden Road, Riddlesden

Closed between Hawber Lane and Banks Lane

10am to 3pm

Banks Lane/Granby Lane, Riddlesden

Full Length Closed

10am to 3pm
