Over the past 24hrs persistent rain has again shown how wet the surrounding land is. Although the beck has not flooded the beck is running at a high level and the river Aire is high.
The rain has caused water to run off the park, this time the drains at the top of Mitchell Lane were able to cope with the runoff but this is of little comfort when the drain at the bottom of Mitchell Lane, which should empty into the beck is blocked (still) resulting in water flooding into St Johns Street. Fortunately, the sandbags from the 26 December floods were still in place to direct the water into the gap in the beck wall.
The subsidence in the car parking area of St Johns Street continues to increase – not sure I would like my car parked where the Range Rover is parked!
